Michael Thomas is no stranger to rock and metal fans. He has ignited the air creating exhilarating music with such bands as Faster Pussycat, Tuff, Engines of Aggression, Beautiful Creatures, Anchored, and Brand New Machine. He currently tours the world thrilling audiences with Steven Adler of Guns N’ Roses fame.
Now Michael Thomas steps into the spotlight with the release of his new solo single Take Me. And the results couldn’t be better!
To be clear, Michael Thomas is among the best guitar virtuosos in today’s heavy metal and hard rock scene. He knows how to play crunchy chords, killer riffs, and blazing solos. Not only that, he knows how to tie them all together into combined masterpieces – as is apparent with the single Take Me.
“It’s got an infectious hook and delivers a modern rock/pop punch that will rattle your fillings with its arena sized anthem,” says Thomas of the single. And, he’s not lying. It’s freaking good.
“The track is layered with blistering guitars, thundering drums, sub drops and sweeps,” continues Thomas.
Truly, with this new single, Thomas swung for the outfield and knocked it out of the park. It’s a complete package.
Thomas’ guitar work on Take Me will delight any hard rock fan with an appreciation for technical skill and master craftmanship. It’s crisp and swirling, painting a dramatic mural of sound and magnificence.
Take Me shows that guitar isn’t Thomas’ only talent. His vocals are a touch reminiscent of Jon Bon Jovi – lyrical yet with the hint of gravel. Bon Jovi has sold over 130 million records worldwide and is responsible for six Number One albums on the Billboard 200 – so obviously it’s a vocal style people love.
Indeed, Thomas ably handles the vocals on Take Me with the confidence of a seasoned front man. It is a catchy song that blends rock, metal, and pop and Thomas will have you singing along on the chorus.
Thomas not only wrote Take Me and handles guitar and vocal duties, he actually responsible for all the instruments on the killer single. His combined talents create a symphony of pure rock.
From a production standpoint, Take Me is a delicious listening experience. The way the instruments are layered is jaw dropping. There is an intricacy to the way the instruments interplay. It is not organized chaos as some hard rock acts resort to, rather Thomas’ instrumentation displays a level of detail that is hypnotic and dizzying.
The notes are a perfect combination of sound. You will appreciate the character of Michael Thomas’ Take Me in the same way one can’t help but be touched by the prose of Shakespeare, the brushwork of Salvador Dali, or the explosion of color in a botanical garden.
Take Me shows off a commitment to all the virtues of anthem rock. Musically the new Thomas single displays influences from multiple genres. In terms of the intricacy of the music, there are hints of similarities to songs from such artists as Avenged Sevenfold, Halestorm, and Three Days Grace, with a certain nod to legends like Bon Jovi, Extreme, and Iron Maiden.
Lyrically and melodically, there are elements of feel good pop dating back to Duran Duran and mainstream rock from legends like Rick Springfield and Bryan Adams. There is even a likeness to the songwriting talents of Oscar, Grammy, Tony, and Olivier award-winning songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Hard rock and heavy metal purists shouldn’t balk at the diverse comparisons – they are all compliments of the upmost sincerity. To be sure, Michael Thomas’s single Take Me is worth rocking out to. It’s fun, it’s catchy, and it’s downright illustrious music. The production is top notch. The writing is stellar. The performance is epic.
Accompanying the single is a sexy video that you don’t want to miss. A story-driven creative work, the video details the world of modern-day bandits with a mysterious yet magical secret.
“For this video I had a vision of a modern ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ with a dark twist. The timing of the release at Halloween could not have been better, the stars aligned,” says Thomas. “It’s a big story to tell in a short amount of time, but the journey flows perfectly in sync with the song and comes full circle… Each time you watch it you take away something new, and I love that.”
Thomas approached the video like a feature film – telling a complete story. Featuring hot bodies, a muscle car, a crime spree, and a trip to the other side, the video for Take Me is packed with excitement.
“There are 3 acts to the story, which was going to be ambitious to tell in under four minutes,” he explains. “What we ended up with was a supernatural tale that, from start to finish, delivers a wild ride in the form of a mini movie.”
The video premiered exclusively on Screamer Magazine’s website. To go directly to the video visit: https://youtu.be/bqEejgoQp_4.
Thomas is currently in the studio working on a full solo album to be released by Golden Robot Records.
Anyone who has seen Thomas in concert knows he puts on a phenomenal show. He has an energy and charisma that can fill a stadium. His new single Take Me shows off a continued musical growth without losing any of the magic that fans have come to expect. Take Me has all the prerequisites of a hit single.
I, for one, am thoroughly excited to hear Thomas’ full solo album. If Take Me is any indication, it’s going to be a dynamic, brilliant record filled with tasty licks.
