So….alleged sex criminal Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida has suddenly gotten married. With the FBI closing in on Gaetz for paying a minor for sex and transporting that minor over state lines in the process, Gaetz’s sudden marriage is sure to draw some raised eyebrows.

I figure this marriage of convenience serves one of two purposes:

Right now, Gaetz’s reputation is not a good one. Detractors so outnumber supporters of the embattled accused sex criminal, that he’s been run off from his own speaking events. Word is he will be officially arrested and charged any day.

So, this quickie marriage to Ginger Luckey – a girl thirteen years his junior – is perhaps an effort to give the Republican a more family-oriented image as he prepares to face the inevitable sex trafficking charges that are reportedly coming Gaetz’s way. If this is the motivation, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a baby announcement sooner than later.

The other prime contender when it comes to theories for the elopement has to do with spousal privilege. Under Federal Law, a wife cannot be forced to testify against her husband. Luckey likely knows as least some of Gaetz’s sordid stories.

Gaetz’s close friend Joel Greenberg has already been arrested and is said to be cooperating with law enforcement relating to their investigation into Gaetz paying a minor for sex and engaging in sex trafficking. This marriage might have been the only way to keep Luckey from testifying what she knows about Gaetz’s sexual exploits with underage girls.

Greenberg has pleaded guilty to six federal crimes, including: sex trafficking of a child, wire fraud, and conspiracy to bribe a public official. His plea agreement requires his continued cooperation with officials.

An indicator of how “legitimate” Gaetz’s marriage to Luckey is, is that he sought out Donald Trump’s approval first. I guess in the criminal community, Trump’s word still holds water. I wouldn’t trust the water though. It probably tastes like orange ass.

Gaetz is co-headlining a national tour with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a QAnon follower. The duo are holding rallies across the U.S. for the purpose of perpetuating Trump’s baseless allegations that voter fraud kept him from reelection in 2020. These allegations have been repeatedly debunked. President Joe Biden won the 2020 election by over 7 million votes and a decisive majority in the electoral college. Trump is just a sad clown who lost a popularity contest by one of the biggest margins in history.

Even though Gaetz and Greene sought out Trump’s endorsement for their disinformation tour, attendance has not been what they hoped for – with many venues refusing to have the duo speak their hate speech, election lies, and other falsehoods. They were famously heckled off stage when they took to defending the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol in Trump’s attempt to overthrow the government and throw out the results of the free and fair 2020 election.

If you thought Trump was an embarrassment on his own, with clowns like Gaetz and Greene representing them, the Republican party is a complete shit show. That’s why Republicans engage in voter suppression and gerrymandering voting districts. They know that the majority of voters don’t approve of them or their policies. The only way they can win is if they cheat. That’s not the sign of a strong party.

As a nation of Democrats, Traditional Republicans, and Independent voters we must turn out in record numbers in the 2022 midterm elections. Vote Blue like all is at stake. We cannot risk Trump Republicans gaining anymore foothold then they already have. They are the ones with their knee on the throat of American values – leaving our very democracy gasping for air.

Gaetz probably knows his only chance of beating the pending charges of statutory rape and sex trafficking of a minor is Trump somehow winning the presidency in 2024 and granting him a pardon.

But America has already shown that we don’t want Trump and his corruption, racism, and intolerance anywhere near the White House. Let’s continue to show up in record numbers. The fate of our nation hangs in the balance. Not only that, but I just think the nation needs to see sexual predators like Gaetz and Trump answer for the crimes they have gotten away with all their lives. Nobody should be above the law.
