Tune in to Unstable Connections

At the beginning of the year, I was one of a select group of writers asked to write a 10-minute play scripted specifically to be performed in a Zoom setting. Out of all those submissions, I’m very honored that my play Someone Nice Like You has been selected to be broadcast as a part of an hour-long collection of 5 short plays under the umbrella title Unstable Connections.

If you would like to see my words come alive in the hands of some talented actors, I hope that you will take advantage of one of three viewing times:

Friday, April 30, 2021 at 7 PM

Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 7 PM

Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 7 PM

There is no cost to attend these virtual showings.

Unstable Connections will be broadcast on the McHenry County College (MCC) YouTube Channel: www.mchenry.edu/live

The cast of Unstable Connections includes CJ Arevalo, Hayley DeCicco, Jake Seeyle, April Noel, Ethan Sherman, Dale Hansen, Heather Bilecki, Paul Lockwood and Shannon Mayhall. I have had the fortune of working with several members of the cast, however neither of the two actors in my piece, Someone Nice Like You.

I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do. I hope you will also make plans to watch one of the three broadcasts of this virtual production of Unstable Connections: A Collection of Zoom Plays.

A little bit about my play –

When we’re in a fit of despair, often times what we want most is to be heard. We reach out to our significant other, our priest, our neighborhood bartender, or any number of other informal therapists. Connecting to the right person can make a world of difference.

Someone Nice Like You eavesdrops on the life of a man who struggles just to survive. He’s not wealthy or educated – just a guy trying to get by. His path has been hard and he lost someone important along the way. Feeling sad and alone, he reaches out to an unconventional substitute therapist, with surprising results.

Someone Nice Like You is a poignant drama; the other four plays under the Unstable Connections banner range from dark to side splitting humor. The other writers being featured include Lauryn Lugo, Adrian Nuño, Andrew Nuño, and Jay Geller.

To get yourself prepped and ready to watch Unstable Connections: A Collection of Zoom Plays, make plans to listen to my radio show It’s Showtime with Rikki Lee on Friday April 30 at 3 PM Central on 101.5 FM locally and streaming worldwide at www.HuntleyRadio.com.  In preparation for the premier of Unstable Connections I will be joined by director Jay Geller and two of the stars of the production: April Noel and Heather Bilecki. We will discuss all 5 of the short plays that make up Unstable Connections.

I’m truly honored to be a part of Unstable Connections. I hope you will make plans to watch the production April 30, May 1, or May 2 at 7 PM Central via www.mchenry.edu/live.

Afterwards, if you are so inclined, please take a moment to share your thoughts with me.

Unstable Connections: A Collection of Zoom Plays is produced by The Black Box Theatre at McHenry County College.
