Eclectic Full Contact Theatre Audio Drama ‘Deep Shadows’ Premiers March 8th

Eclectic Full Contact Theatre, one of Chicago’s premier storefront theatrical companies, announces the March 8, 2021 launch of its first serialized audio drama of the pandemic lockdown: Deep Shadows.

Deep Shadows, written by Aaron Mays and Colette Cullen, is directed by Christina Casano and features the voice talents of Dee Dee Batteast, Lesley Ann Reilly, Justice Hall, Nevada Montgomery, Caitlin Jackson, Jordan Arredondo, Luis Bermudez, and EFCT company members Julian Serna, Lisa Savegnago, and Andrew Pond.

The story follows Joelle Franklin, a dedicated Chicago social worker. She faces systemic corruption, classism, and the erosion of public services as she investigates the suspicious death of a former client. At the same time, she is trying to balance life with Irish émigré girlfriend Siobhan and conflict with both her superiors and her younger brother Michael, a Cook County Sheriff.

Starting March 8, patrons can binge the first three episodes, then tune in weekly every Monday to continue the story. Deep Shadows is available on all major podcast sites.

Deep Shadows is a part of EFCT’s All-Audio 9th season, highlighting the work of women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ artists. I applaud EFCT for this bold and timely decision.

Chicago Theatre Review states, “Eclectic continually proves to be one of Chicago’s most consistently excellent storefront companies.”
