A New Dawn – Welcome to the Biden/Harris Administration

Today, January 20, 2021, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were sworn into office. It is a time celebrate. It is a time to rejoice. After four years with a criminal in the White House, now we can return to normalcy.

Where Donald Trump sought to divide the country with hate, Biden seeks to unite with love. The two men could not be more different.

Where Trump’s concerns were only of personal gain at the cost of the country, Biden is a leader who puts the interests of the country and its people first.

Where Trump sought to illuminate health coverage for millions of Americans, Biden is committed to making sure every American has access to healthcare.

Where Trump sought to put money in his own pockets by drastically cutting taxes on the upper 1%, Biden seeks for millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share and cutting taxes for those earning less than $400,000 a year.

Where Trump dealt in lies, Biden deals in truth.

And in Kamala Harris we have the first female to hold the office of Vice President, the first person of color to hold the office of Vice President, and the first person of Asian descent to hold the office of Vice President.

To be sure, this day is vitally important in the history of our country. Despite Trump’s attempts to rig the 2020 election, true patriots turned out by the millions to vote him out of office and give us the Biden/Harris administration that we so desperately need after four years of attack on civil rights, the fiscal health of our country, and the environmental concerns facing the entire world.

Today starts a new chapter in the annals of U.S. History. It is a day of hope. It is a day that marks the start of the rebuilding process.

Joe Biden did not need to run for president. He has had a long and successful career in politics, including serving as a Senator and as Vice President. Joe Biden came out of retirement to run for president because the country needed him to.

I am a huge Bernie Sanders fan. I think he would have won against Trump in 2016, but I don’t know if he would have been electable in 2020 once Trump’s team of character assassins got through with him by demonizing the term “Democratic Socialist.” As it was, Trump tried to inaccurately label Biden as a socialist.

Biden ran for president because he was our best chance to defeat the evil tyrant Trump and his criminal administration. For that, I will always be grateful to President Joe Biden.

The destruction to our country has been brutal. Trump added $3.9 trillion to the deficit. He has waged war against the environment. Through Betsy DeVos he has caused traumatic harm to our educational system.

It will take time to rebuild our country. But, in Joe Biden and Kamala Harris we have the leadership that we need to lead us on this mission.

At the end of the day, we are all Americans and the Biden/Harris administration represents all of us. Not just the rich. Not just the white. All Americans.

One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Peace. Love. Trust.
